W. Chillteus de Silva

Veteran Boxer of Sri Lanka

W. Chillteus de Silva began his boxing journey in 1973 after joining the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment. His natural talent and discipline quickly brought him recognition within the Army boxing circles.

  • 1973-Represented the Sinha Regiment at the Inter-Company Boxing Meet, competing in the bantamweight category. He emerged as the Winner and was adjudged the Best Boxer of the tournament.
  • 1974-Represented the Sinha Regiment at the Sri Lanka Novices
    Boxing Meet in
    the bantamweight category and secured both the Winner and Best Boxer titles.
  • Represented the Sri Lanka Army at the ABA Novices Boxing Meet in the featherweight category and was again the Winner and Best Boxer.
  • Won the bantamweight title at the Army Inter-Regiment Boxing Championship.
  • 1975-Crowned Featherweight Champion at the Army Inter-Regiment Boxing Championship, a title he successfully defended for three consecutive years (1975, 1976, and 1977).
  • Represented the Defence Services Boxing Meet, finishing as Runner-up and being named the Best Loser.
  • Layton Cup Boxing Tournament -Featherweight Runner-up
  • Clifford Cup Boxing Tournament-Featherweight Champion.
  • ABA Intermediate Boxing Meet -Lightweight Champion.
  • 1976-Continued his dominance by winning the Featherweight Championship at the Army Inter Regiment Meet.
  • Won the Lightweight title at the Defence Services Boxing Championship.
  • Represented the Sri Lanka Army at the Albert Perera Memorial Cup organized by the Central YMCA, emerging as the Winner and Best Boxer
  • Layton Cup Boxing Tournament-Featherweight Champion
  • Clifford Cup Boxing Tournament. Lightweight Champion.
  • ABA Intermediate Boxing Meet -Lightweight Champion.
  • ABA National Boxing Championship Featherweight Runner-up.
  • 1977-Won the Featherweight Championship at the Army Inter-Regiment Boxing Meet for the third consecutive year
  • Represented the Defence Services Boxing Meet, finishing as Runner-up in the Featherweight category.
  • Albert Perera Memorial Cup -Lightweight Winner.
  • Layton Cup Boxing Tournament -Featherweight Runner-up and Best Loser.
  • Kandy District Boxing Championship – Featherweight Champion and Best Boxer.
  • Clifford Cup Boxing Tournament-Lightweight Champion.
  • 1978-Displayed his continued excellence, winning the Featherweight title at the ABA Golden Jubilee Boxing Tournament
  • Competed in the ABA National Boxing Championship, finishing as Runner-up in the Lightweight category.
