Sunanda Godevithana

A True Gentleman of the Ring and Beyond

The Ceylon Boxing Federation proudly recognizes Sunanda Godevithana, a distinguished product of Royal College, Colombo, whose lifelong dedication has left a lasting mark on Sri Lankan boxing. Sunanda's boxing journey began at Royal College, where his skill and determination quickly stood out. He captured the L.V. Jayaweera and T.B. Jayah titles in 1976, and was Runner-up at the Stubbs Shield Championships in 1976 and 1977. His courage and sportsmanship earned him the title of Best Loser (Senior) in 1977, honoring his fighting spirit and character. For his achievements, Royal College awarded him Boxing Colours in 1976 and 1977, recognizing him among the school's elite athletes.

After his competitive years, Sunanda continued to serve the sport as a Boxing Referee and Judge since 1993, and as a National Technical Official in 2023. He also represented Sri Lanka as a Junior Team Manager, mentoring young boxers with the same passion that defined his own career.

In 1999, he enhanced his expertise through the Olympic Solidarity Regional Course, gaining international exposure that strengthened his contributions to boxing's growth in Sri Lanka. From a fierce competitor to a respected official and mentor, Sunanda Godevithana embodies true sportsmanship, integrity, and lifelong commitment-continuing to inspire the Sri Lankan boxing fraternity today.
