Chandrasena Perera Jayasuriya, better known as C.P. Jayasuriya, is a legendary Sri Lankan boxer and retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, celebrated for his explosive power and technical skill. Nicknamed the "Knockout King," he earned acclaim by winning the Clifford Cup, multiple National Boxing Championships, and a bronze medal at the 1954 Asian Games in Manila. A proud member of the renowned Jayasuriya boxing family, alongside his brothers H.P. and S.P., he carried Sri Lanka's name onto the international stage. He represented the nation at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, becoming one of the country's earliest Olympians. Jayasuriya's record speaks volumes -out of 120 career victories, 75 came by knockout, a testament to the power and precision that made him a feared opponent. His aggressive yet disciplined style left a lasting mark on the sport, inspiring generations of young Sri Lankan boxers. C.P. Jayasuriya remains a revered figure in Sri Lankan sports history, remembered not only as a champion in the ring but also as a pioneer who helped shape the nation's boxing legacy.
