Anthony Kumara

A Dedicated Boxer and Boxing Official

Anthony Kumara, a respected figure in Sri Lankan boxing, began his journey at St. Michael's College, Polwatte, where his passion for the sport first took shape. His commitment and fighting spirit soon marked him as a promising athlete.

In 1984, he made a strong impression at the Stubbs Shield Boxing Championship, finishing as Runner-Up-a remarkable feat in one of Sri Lanka's most prestigious school tournaments. He went on to secure Runner-Up titles at both the Intermediate Boxing Championship and the Francis Jayawardene Boxing Meet, demonstrating his technical skill and determination. Kumara also achieved Runner-Up status at the Junior Championship Boxing Meet, reflecting his discipline, strategy, and sportsmanship.

After retiring from active competition, he continued to serve the sport as a boxing official and timekeeper, contributing his experience to the continued growth of boxing in Sri Lanka.
