Champion in the Ring and Beyond

Angelo Jesudasan, a proud alumnus of St. Mary's College, Dehiwala, hails from an institution that was a powerhouse in boxing from the late 1960s to the early 1980s, and equally renowned for its achievements in cricket, basketball, and rugby.

Angelo's sporting journey began in the 1970s, where he first excelled in athletics and wrestling before being inspired by his elder brother to step into the boxing ring. His debut came at the L.V. Jayaweera Boxing Meet, followed by a gold medal victory at the Novices Championship.

A true all-round sportsman, Angelo balanced athletics, wrestling, and boxing with remarkable dedication. His leadership qualities earned him the prestigious positions of Head Prefect and Games Captain of St. Mary's College a testament to his discipline and character. After leaving school, he represented the St. Mary's Boxing Club, Dehiwala, reaching the semifinals at both the Junior Nationals and Intermediate Championships, while also competing for the Ace Athletics Club, Colombo.

Angelo's versatility extended beyond boxing. He represented Havelocks Sports Club in rugby from 1984 to 1988, later took up judo, and went on to play Division II cricket for Tri Star Sports Club in the late 1980s. Beyond his sporting achievements, Angelo has built a distinguished professional career in the advertising, garment, and apparel industries. He has served as Technical Consultant at Hirdaramani Garments, Head of Textile Printing at Brandix Apparel, and is currently the General Manager - Technical at MAS Holdings

Today, Angelo continues to serve the sporting community with pride and commitment. He is the Chairman of the Referees Committee of the National Association of Fencing (NAF) and has been the President of the Old Boys' Union of St. Mary's College, Dehiwala, since 2017. Angelo Jesudasan's journey stands as an inspiring example of sporting excellence, leadership, and lifelong dedication both in and beyond the ring.
