Early Life and Introduction to Boxing

Prasanna Soysa began his boxing journey in 1979 while studying at Zaheera College, Colombo. His first coaches were Mr. Kaldera and Mr. Whoslee Fonseka, both of whom played a crucial role in shaping his early technique and discipline in the sport. Their guidance laid the foundation for Soysa's future success in both national and international arenas.

National Development

As Soysa progressed, he trained under the mentorship of Late DIG Dharmasiri Weerakoon, a renowned National Coach of Sri Lanka. Under his leadership, Soysa further developed his competitive edge and became a strong contender for international representation. He also trained with the SAF Unit at the YMCA Colombo, strengthening his skills among some of the country's best fighters.

1987 - Bronze Medal, SAF Games, Calcutta (India)

The following year, Soysa represented Sri Lanka at the SAF Games in Calcutta, India, where he secured a Bronze Medal. This achievement strengthened his reputation as a skilled regional competitor and added to Sri Lanka's medal tally at the prestigious event.
