Early Boxing Career at Royal College

General Jayasuriya represented Royal College at the Stubbs Shield Boxing Meet from 1973 to 1977, earning College Boxing Colours in 1974, 1976, and 1977. Recognized for his leadership qualities and strategic ring intelligence, he captained the Royal College boxing tearn in 1977, establishing himself as one of the school's most outstanding boxers of his era.

Stubbs Shield Achievements

The pinnacle of his school boxing career came in 1977, when he won the Senior Best Boxer Trophy (Col. T.Y. Wright Challenge Cup) at the prestigious Stubbs Shield Championships. Renowned for his straight, clean punches, solid defense, and elegant footwork, he left a lasting impression on both peers and spectators, marking him as a boxer of exceptional skill and sportsmanship.
