T. J. Chandradasa
T. J. Chandradasa began his boxing journey in 1972 under the mentorship of Brigadier H. F. Rupasinghe of the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment. During his distinguished military career, he proudly represented both the Sri Lanka Army Boxing Team and the National Boxing Team from 1974 to 1980, competing in all major domestic tournaments. Renowned for his skill, discipline, and determination in the ring, Chandradasa earned the title of National Champion in the Light Middleweight Division in 1978 and 1979. In 1979, he represented Sri Lanka internationally, facing teams from the Indian Railways, Indian Army, and Tata Boxing Teams, and later joined the Sri Lanka national team on its tour of India.
After retiring from active competition, Chandradasa continued to serve the sport with unwavering dedication. In 1992, he qualified as a National Referee & Judge, and in 2011, he attained the prestigious rank of One-Star International Referee & Judge. Since 2017, he has been serving as a National Technical Official in Boxing (NTO), contributing significantly to the growth, fairness, and integrity of Sri Lankan boxing.
A true all-round sportsman, Chandradasa also represented Sri Lanka Masters Athletics at numerous international competitions across Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and India between 1992 to 2010, reflecting his lifelong commitment to sport and physical excellence.
