Don Jagath Neththikumara began his boxing journey at St. Matthew's College, where his natural skill and passion quickly made him a standout athlete. Known for his disciplined style and technical brilliance, he became one of Sri Lanka's most respected boxers of his era.

Early Achievements

From 1977 to 1985, Neththikumara dominated school and national boxing circuits, securing numerous titles and awards;

  • Stubbs Shield, Clifford Cup, Layton Cup, and National Championships winner
  • Multiple Best Boxer awards at YMCA and ABA meets
  • Recognized as the Most Scientific Boxer at the National Boxing Championships (1982)
    He represented St. Matthew’s College, Υ.Μ.Μ.Α. Maligawatte, and later Taj Samudra Colombo, excelling in the Light Flyweight and Bantamweight catego ries.
National & International Representation

Neththikumara proudly represented Sri Lanka in dual meets and exhibition bouts, earning recognition for his technical mastery and sportsmanship. His performances helped bring fame to both his alma mater and the nation.
